The history and the richness of this bustling market town are closely linked to their abbey, once the mightiest in the southwest of England was connected.

The abbey is now part of the city. For example, the attached Torweg the town hall, the dining room of the hospital was the former chapel and parts of the cloister now the picturesque ruins, which are beautiful in the courtyard of St. Eustace Church in the 15th Century can visit.

Tavistock is the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake to the mariner. A monument was Him in the city center within a roundabout built. Worth seeing his country home 'Buckland Abbey' near Tavistock.
